New 40mph speed limit to be introduced on B530 just outside of Bedford

Central Bedfordshire Council is proposing a new 40mph speed limit on the B530 Ampthill Road near Houghton Conquest, Bedford. The planned restrictions cover specific sections of Ampthill Road and Turvey Road, extending from approximately 212 metres southwest of the boundary between numbers 1 and 2 Ampthill Road to the roundabout junction with Turvey Road, and beyond. This change responds to recent developments including the construction of a new roundabout, a shared-use pedestrian and cycle path, and nearby residential growth.

The council is inviting public feedback on the proposal until 12 November, with objections required to state grounds and reference number TRO-134. Comments will be anonymised and published online ahead of a traffic management meeting where the proposal will be discussed. This speed limit adjustment aims to enhance safety and accommodate infrastructure changes in the area.
