Police name wanted men in crackdown on High Street crime in Bedford

Bedfordshire Police have named three men—Jack McVicar, Anthony Burgess, and Nick Stramaglia—wanted in connection with shoplifting offences in Bedford town centre as part of an ongoing crackdown on High Street crime. Since July, the force has arrested dozens and charged 21 individuals with over 330 offences including theft from shops and business burglaries, aiming to reduce the impact on local businesses and communities.

Notable convictions include Anthony Hall, sentenced to one year in prison and given a five-year Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO) restricting access to several retail areas, and Darren Worton, sentenced to 12 weeks with a three-year CBO. The police have also conducted operations targeting money laundering through cash-intensive businesses, seizing counterfeit goods and illegal items. Chief Inspector Andy Smith emphasised the importance of collaboration with retailers and the community to disrupt offending and encouraged the public to provide information on the wanted individuals.
