Man in court after three Jewish women assaulted

A 33-year-old man, Abdisamad Siad, appeared at Highbury Corner Magistrates' Court charged with three counts of assault by beating following alleged attacks on three Orthodox Jewish women in Clapton Common, Hackney, north-east London. The incidents reportedly occurred on Monday afternoon, with one victim allegedly assaulted while pushing her baby in a pram. Siad entered not guilty pleas and was remanded in custody, with a provisional trial date set for 11 December at Stratford Magistrates' Court.

The Metropolitan Police have increased patrols in the area and are collaborating with Jewish community leaders to offer reassurance. CCTV footage shared by the community group Shomrim appears to show one of the assaults. Siad also faces a separate charge of grievous bodily harm with intent related to an unrelated attack. The case highlights concerns about safety within the local Jewish community.
