Teenage boy guilty of trying to murder girl, 15, in school

A 16-year-old boy has been found guilty of attempted murder after stabbing a 15-year-old girl at Thorpe St Andrew School near Norwich in March. The boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, attacked the girl with an 18cm kitchen knife while dressed in black and wearing a face mask. The attack was captured on CCTV, and the school went into lockdown with an armed police response. The victim sustained a minor injury and was taken to hospital.

During the trial at King's Lynn Crown Court, jurors heard that the boy harboured a hatred of women and had an obsessive interest in killers. He had written notes expressing misogynistic motives and intentions to kill. The prosecution described the attack as a deliberate attempt to kill, while the defence argued the force used was limited. The boy will be sentenced on 18 December, with the judge indicating a custodial sentence of considerable length is likely.
