Tory activist in ‘contract killing broker’ claim had worked for party HQ

Jack Ross, a former Tory activist who appeared in an undercover Al Jazeera report offering to "broker" contract killings, previously worked for Conservative Party headquarters in a social media advisory role until earlier this year. Ross was never an employee or granted a Conservative Campaign Headquarters pass but had met Conservative leader Kemi Badenoch and other right-wing politicians through his role as chief executive of Turning Point UK, a UK offshoot of a US organisation.

Following the broadcast, the Conservative Party suspended Ross's membership pending investigation. Ross denied the allegations, stating his comments were not meant to be taken seriously. The undercover journalist approached Ross in 2022 with a fictitious scenario involving a family business threatened by a criminal gang, during which Ross allegedly discussed violent options including stabbing, shooting, and killing. Turning Point UK has not yet commented on the matter.
