Garden waste collections to stop for winter across Central Bedfordshire

Central Bedfordshire Council will suspend garden waste collections for nearly three months over the winter, starting from Monday, 30 November 2026. Collections will resume in the week beginning Monday, 22 February 2027, with final pick-ups occurring during the weeks of 16 or 23 November depending on residents' usual schedules. Residents can verify their collection dates and sign up for email alerts on the council's website.

During the suspension, residents can dispose of garden waste at the council's four Household Waste Recycling Centres, which remain open daily from 9am to 5pm, including bank holidays. Alternatively, reusable 55-litre garden waste sacks are available for purchase at £7.32 each, allowing residents to transport waste to recycling centres, though these sacks are not collected kerbside. Home composting is also encouraged. All other waste and recycling services will continue as normal throughout the winter period.
