Go ahead for nearly 700 extra school places in Cranfield and Marston Moretaine

Central Bedfordshire Council has approved plans to create up to 693 additional school places across Cranfield and Marston Moretaine through the expansion of four major school projects. The developments will increase capacity at Cranfield Church of England Academy (St Paul's) from 147 to 420 pupils, Holywell School from 720 to 900 pupils, and add 120 places each at the Church End and Forest End sites of Marston Moreteyne VC School. These expansions include new classrooms, improved sports and outdoor facilities, and sustainability features such as solar panels, air source heat pumps, and electric vehicle charging points.

The projects form part of the council's wider programme to support the transition to a primary and secondary education system, ensuring schools can meet future demand. Environmental enhancements and measures to promote safe, sustainable travel to and from schools, including additional cycle and scooter parking, are also planned. Work is set to begin pending planning conditions, aiming to provide modern, fit-for-purpose learning environments that support pupil wellbeing and community sustainability.
